Armstrong Alterna Windy Sand is a 16x16 vinyl tile in a soft gray, with a mottled surface that reads as concrete. It comes from the Whispered Essence design, with a low-gloss finish. Armstrong describes Alterna as warmer to the touch and kinder to your feet than stone, ceramic, or porcelain.

Its pattern guide covers staggering the rows like brick. Moisture is handled at the tile, which is waterproof, and it glues down in full spread, at, above, or below grade. Grout is optional on the rounded edges, with no sealer. Under the warranty, a home floor is covered for life and a light commercial floor for five years, both limited.
