Compared with a red oak floor, hickory is the louder choice, trading red oak's calmer open grain for wide swings between pale sapwood and dark heartwood inside the same board. Sequoia Hickory leans into that loudness by mixing three plank widths, 3 1/4, 5 and 6 3/8 inches, in the same run, so the grain drama plays out at more than one scale instead of repeating uniformly. Woodlake sits at the high end of that character scale, letting knots, mineral streaking and sapwood surface openly instead of getting bred out of the grade. The Repel water-resistant finish holds a 20% sheen, enough to let light catch the scraped texture without gathering into hot spots across such an active grain pattern.

A sunroom with glazed white cabinets, a deep bottle green wall, a cast stone counter and matte black hardware gives Woodlake's high-contrast grain somewhere bright enough to actually show off. Because the edge here is pillowed rather than a flat micro-bevel, each seam reads as a soft, rounded groove between boards, which becomes more noticeable across a mixed-width run where the eye is already tracking three different board sizes at once. That groove catches shadow in a sunroom's shifting daylight throughout the day.
