Definition of Radiant Heating

Radiant floor heating is a system that involves warming up a room by heating the floor instead of the air in the room.

The heat radiated from the floor rises into the air through convection currents and is absorbed by objects and people in the room.

There are two main types of radiant floor heating floors:

  • Hydronic systems: Utilize heating pipes that are heated using a boiler system
  • Electric systems: Use insulated electric wires or coils to heat floors

Example of Radiant Heating in a Sentence
