Definition of Aluminum Oxide

Aluminum oxide is a naturally occurring mineral that is ground and used to create hard, durable, scratch-resistant flooring finishes.

Aluminum oxide is added to urethane finishes and applied to hardwood, engineered hardwood, bamboo, or laminate floors in thin layers. Coating floors in aluminum oxide results in:

  • A shiny, glossy finish that's resistant to scratches, scuffs, dents, and corrosion.
  • Durable and long -asting floors that are resistant to everyday wear and tear.
  • Corrosion resistant metal surfaces.

This makes aluminum oxide finishes a great option for heavy-traffic areas, such as office lobbies.

Aluminum oxide also makes a great finish for bathrooms, kitchens, and other moisture-prone areas because it's resistant to moisture and water damage.

Example of Aluminum Oxide in a Sentence

“Hardwood floors coated with aluminum oxide preserve their shine and glossiness thanks to the mineral's UV-resistant nature.”
