Description
Albright Oak runs narrow, just 3.25 inches per board, which means more seams per square foot and a busier rhythm underfoot than a wide-plank floor delivers. Red oak brings a more open pore structure than white oak along with a warmer, pink-leaning undertone, and the Coffee Bean stain sits on top of that warmth rather than fighting it, pushing the color toward a deep, warm brown instead of a cooler one. A smooth face under the ScufResist Platinum finish holds a 20% sheen, enough to catch light along the grain without turning glossy. That high character grade is no accident here, since knots, mineral streaking and sapwood are meant to show up board to board rather than being graded out.
High-gloss lacquer cabinets, a dusty rose wall, an onyx counter and pewter hardware give a mudroom-into-kitchen run some polish, and Coffee Bean's warm brown grounds all that shine instead of competing with it. Because Albright Oak is approved for nailing, stapling, gluing or floating, a builder can glue it directly to a plywood subfloor over a slab in the mudroom and then transition to a nailed installation over the joisted subfloor running into the kitchen, without switching to a different product partway through. That flexibility matters most exactly where a mudroom meets a kitchen on two different subfloors. Because the veneer runs 1.2 mm, this Shaw engineered hardwood's long-term maintenance is screen-and-recoat and the occasional board swap, not a sander.
