Biome
Armstrong Biome is a commercial glue-down luxury vinyl tile (LVT) collection of wood-look planks, designed around wood grains and earthy tones drawn from natural ecosystems. All 38 colors share the same 2.5 mm construction, 20 mil wear layer, and Diamond 10 Technology finish, so your main choices are plank width and design: 6" x 48" planks in five designs or 9" x 48" planks in two.
What Every Biome Plank Shares
- 2.5 mm (0.100 in.) total thickness with a 20 mil (0.5 mm) wear layer. The wear layer is the clear top layer that protects the printed wood design.
- Diamond 10 Technology, Armstrong's patented factory finish that uses cultured diamonds to help resist scratches, stains, and scuffs.
- A low-gloss, embossed surface with eased edges, which are designed to blend into the next plank and make cleaning easier.
- A no-polish, no-buff maintenance option, with polish as an optional step.
- Made in the USA with global and domestic content, according to Armstrong.
Where Biome Works and Where It Doesn't
Armstrong's 2026 LVT Recommendation Guide lists Biome for a wide range of commercial interiors, including:
- Healthcare: patient rooms, exam rooms, corridors, nurses' stations, waiting rooms, and pharmacies.
- Education: classrooms, libraries, corridors, dormitory rooms, and gymnasiums.
- Offices and public buildings: offices, conference rooms, lobbies, elevators, lunchrooms, and museums.
- Retail and hospitality: sales floors, checkout areas, hotel guest rooms, lobbies, and dining areas.
Some spaces come with conditions. Stairs need a manufactured slip-retardant nosing. In guest and residence bathrooms, food service areas, and vending areas, Armstrong calls for walk-off mats and no standing water.
Armstrong does not recommend Biome for:
- Commercial kitchens, food processing areas, and the area behind fast-food counters.
- Showers and the areas around pools and spas.
- Entryways, ramps, locker rooms, and covered parking garage walkways, where Armstrong points to slip-resistant flooring instead.
- Rooms that need static control, such as data centers, telecommunications rooms, and computer repair areas, where Armstrong points to static control tile instead.
- Operating rooms, scrub areas, and other aseptic spaces, where Armstrong points to sheet vinyl instead.
- Outdoor areas, spaces where spiked shoes are worn, and areas with unusually concentrated loads.
Planning Your Order
Savannah, Montane, Selva, Earthen, and Tellus come in 6" x 48" planks. Boreal and Altitude are the two 9" x 48" designs. Armstrong describes Boreal as clean and contemporary, Tellus as rustic, Savannah as naturally imperfect, and Altitude as adding depth and movement. - Every carton covers 36 sq ft: 18 planks of the 6" width or 12 planks of the 9" width. Each carton weighs about 39 lb.
- A full pallet holds 54 cartons (1,944 sq ft) of 6" planks or 56 cartons (2,016 sq ft) of 9" planks.
- Armstrong does not require planks from the same dye lot within one installation. Color and visual variation is still normal, so review planks from several cartons before installing.

Installation
Biome is a full-spread glue-down floor, not a click-lock or floating plank. Armstrong lists three adhesives for it: Armstrong S-995, Armstrong S-1000, and Armstrong S-319 Roll Strong. Armstrong requires S-1000 in areas with direct sunlight, topical moisture, concentrated loads, or temperature swings, and over ceramic tile, terrazzo, marble, metal, or seamless polymeric floors.
Biome can go on any grade level and over a single layer of existing resilient flooring, but not over existing tile below grade. Confirm the right adhesive and subfloor preparation with Armstrong's installation instructions or your installer. Armstrong also lists Biome for wall installation, using its LVT wall installation instructions and S-730 adhesive.
Warranty and Intended Use
For floors purchased on or after August 1, 2026, Armstrong's current warranty, issued by AHF Products, covers Biome with a 30-year commercial limited warranty. Coverage requires the recommended Armstrong adhesive and installation instructions. Without the recommended adhesive, coverage drops to one year, for materials only.
