Extremely High character grading is Shaw's top tier, and Regatta Teak carries it. On this plantation teak, that means knots, mineral streaking and sapwood all reading strongly, with board-to-board variation pushed about as far as Shaw's grading scale goes. Plantation teak brings its own distinct import character to that variation, a look and grain pattern that reads differently underfoot than any of Shaw's domestic oak or hickory floors. Shaw finishes this smooth-milled engineered hardwood at a 15% sheen, high enough that Maritime's tonal shifts catch a bit more light than a matte floor would, without turning glassy.
A sunlit great room can carry a lot of variation without feeling busy. Maritime's shifting tones fit naturally against sandblasted fir cabinets, charcoal matte walls, a cast stone counter and antique copper hardware, a mix already built around contrast rather than a single quiet tone. At a full half inch thick, this floor also carries an above, on or below grade rating, which covers a great room built on a slab foundation just as well as one over a raised subfloor. That range means the same floor works whether the room sits directly on grade or one level up from it.
