The hand-scraped texture across each 5 inch plank in Shaw's Pebble Hill Hickory line adds shallow dips and tool marks that catch light unevenly, reinforcing a floor shaped by hand. A 20% sheen Repel water-resistant finish and pillowed edge round out this engineered hardwood with enough shine to read finished.

Few interior walls break up the sightlines in this kind of floor plan, so a plank's width matters more than it would in a chopped-up layout, and Weathered Saddle's saddle-leather brown reads warm rather than heavy across that much open floor.
