Endura Plus Vinyl Flooring

Shaw Endura Plus is a 100% waterproof, wood-look luxury vinyl plank collection in Shaw’s Floorte Pro Series. Its style number is 0736V. All colors of Endura Plus Shaw currently offers, share the same specifications:

The 4.8 mm and 12 mil figures measure different things in different units. Plank thickness, in millimeters, matters when planning height transitions to adjoining floors. The wear layer is the clear surface layer over the printed design, measured in mils (thousandths of an inch); 12 mil is about 0.3 mm. A wear-layer figure is a specification, not a guarantee against scratches or dents, so proper care still matters.

Shaw Floorte Pro Endura Plus Colors and Wood-Look Designs

Endura Plus flooring combines micro-beveled edges with an embossed surface for a hardwood-style look. Names such as Oyster Oak, Cinnamon Walnut, and Spalted Maple describe the printed design; every plank is vinyl. In the product photos, the 17 colors fall into four broad groups:

• Pale and light beige: White Sand, Spalted Maple, Castaway, and Fresh Driftwood, which appears pale gray with darker streaks.
• Tan with visible knots: Marina, Wild Dunes, and Almond Oak.
• Gray, taupe, and gray-brown: Lighthouse, Driftwood, Simple Wash, Oyster Oak, and Smoky Oak, which shows the most pronounced dark streaking in this group.
• Warmer and deeper browns: Amber Oak, Tawny Oak, Casual Comfort, Cinnamon Walnut, and Modern Classic.

Shaw Endura Plus Installation Instructions

Shaw Endura Plus is installed with an angle/angle click-lock system. For a standard floating installation, the planks lock together without being fastened or glued to the subfloor. Flooring beneath cabinets or islands requires adhesion as explained below. Moldings and transitions must not be fastened to the planks. Check these requirements before planning your installation:

• Existing floors: Endura Plus can go over most existing hard surfaces that are fully adhered, clean, flat, dry, structurally sound, and free of deflection. Existing sheet vinyl must not be heavily cushioned or more than one layer thick. Ceramic or porcelain tile grout joints up to 1/4 inch wide are acceptable; fill wider joints with cementitious patching compound flush with the tile surface. Do not install over carpet or over wood floors adhered to concrete.
• Subfloor flatness: the subfloor must be flat within 3/16 inch in 10 feet or 1/8 inch in 6 feet.
• Cabinets and islands: if cabinets or islands will sit on the flooring, the flooring beneath them, plus an additional 2 feet beyond them, must be fully adhered to the subfloor.
• Expansion space: leave a 1/4-inch perimeter gap for areas smaller than 2,500 square feet and a 1/2-inch gap for larger areas. Moldings and transitions must cover the gap without securing the planks.
• Additional underlayment: a second underlayment up to 3 mm thick is allowed in residential installations, though lab testing to date on certain resilient products has not shown added acoustic benefit. Crumb rubber underlayments are not permitted.
• Concrete moisture barrier: floating installation over concrete requires 6 mil polyethylene film with taped seams. The attached pad does not replace this requirement. Complete concrete moisture testing and any necessary moisture mitigation first.
• Installation temperature: acclimation is not required, but install the flooring in a climate-controlled space between 55°F and 85°F.

Quantity, Samples, and Trims

Measure every room getting the new floor, including closets and hallways, and add a little extra for cuts. Enter that total on any color’s product page, and it will tell you how many boxes to order. Each box covers 18.67 square feet, and partial boxes are rounded up. For example, a total requirement of 200 square feet comes to 11 boxes.

Care and Warranty

Caring for Shaw Endura Plus Flooring comes down to a few habits:

• Sweep or dust-mop to remove grit, and wipe up spills as quickly as possible.
• Clean with a neutral-pH cleaner. Avoid abrasive cleaners, ammonia, vinegar-based products, and harsh chemicals.
• Use felt protectors and wide bases under furniture; the heavier the object, the wider the protector.
• Put walk-off mats at entrances, choosing mats without latex or rubber backings, which can discolor vinyl.
• Close blinds or drapes during peak sun, since prolonged direct sunlight can cause discoloration and thermal expansion.
• Subfloor moisture can still cause mold and mildew beneath the floor, and Shaw’s warranty does not cover damage from subfloor moisture. Over concrete, moisture testing and a 6 mil poly film are required (see installation above). In bathrooms and other wet areas, caulk the floor perimeter with silicone.
