Maple is normally a quiet, tight-grained wood, so Shaw Anvil Plus Mineral Maple (2032V-00297) stands out for the dark brown grain lines that run through its soft tan base, a nod to the mineral streaks found in real maple. It is a 4.4 mm SPC plank with a 6 mil wear layer and ScufResist finish, waterproof and dent resistant, with an EVA pad attached. That wear layer fits lower-traffic rooms. For a busier kitchen, the 20 mil version of Mineral Maple is the stronger choice. A butcher-block island picks up its warm base.
