A warm oak that stays warm without going orange

Lotte Oak is a warm light-to-medium oak with honey and tan tones running through an oak grain pattern. The design layer mixes straight grain with occasional cathedral figuring, and pale streaks cut across the darker passages in a way that keeps the floor from looking uniform or printed. There is a subtle limed quality to the lighter areas, and that is what stops the warmth from tipping into the orange or yellow of older honey-oak floors.

Embossed-in-register texturing aligns the surface texture with the printed grain, so the plank feels like brushed oak underfoot rather than like a texture running independently across an image. Enhanced painted bevels outline every board, which keeps each plank defined even at this size.

One caution on color, because it costs people money. No screen renders flooring accurately, including ours. Order a sample and look at it in the actual room, in morning daylight and again under your evening lamps, next to the cabinets and trim that are staying.

What Lotte Oak pairs with

Warm neutrals are having a long run in residential design, and Lotte Oak sits in the middle of the shift away from grey flooring. Where the 82-inch plank earns its price

Scale is what separates Grande from the rest of COREtec Originals. An 82-inch plank measures 6 feet 10 inches. Lay that across a 12-foot room and two planks plus a cut piece span the width, where a standard 48-inch plank needs three planks and a cut. Fewer end seams, longer uninterrupted runs, and a floor that carries the eye across a room instead of breaking it into segments.

Large open-plan living areas, primary bedrooms, and long hallways are where that pays off. Short rooms cut too many boards to show the format, so in narrow spaces like galley kitchens and entryways, run the planks along the longer dimension to keep the seam count down. If your largest room sits under roughly 11 feet on its short dimension, a 7-inch-wide COREtec Originals Premium plank gives you the same core and the same wear layer for less per square foot.

Every carton holds all three lengths, 28", 55", and 82". The mixed lengths let seams stagger naturally without cutting every board. Installers used to uniform-length vinyl sometimes try to plan a pattern around it; the random distribution is the intended look, and fighting it produces more waste rather than a better floor.

A 15 mm WPC core, not SPC

Underneath the visual, this is a 15 mm plank built on a waterproof foamed WPC core, and it feels meaningfully different from the SPC products that dominate this price bracket. The foamed core is softer and warmer underfoot, and the factory-attached cork underlayment adds acoustic dampening that matters on second floors and over concrete slabs.

SPC is denser, thinner, and holds up better against concentrated point loads: a piano leg, a loaded safe, a hard-caster desk chair. WPC trades some of that dent resistance for comfort and quiet. If sound and underfoot feel matter more to you than maximum dent resistance, WPC is the reason people choose COREtec Originals.

At the surface, a 30 mil wear layer under a UV acrylic finish is heavy enough to carry a 10 Year Medium Commercial Limited Warranty alongside Lifetime Residential coverage. Medium commercial is a higher traffic rating than light commercial, which makes this a workable specification for home offices, boutiques, and similar light commercial spaces as readily as for a family home.

A 30 mil wear layer resists abrasion and wearing through. It does not make the surface scratch-proof. Dragged furniture, bare chair feet, and grit tracked in on shoes will mark any vinyl floor. Felt pads and a doormat handle most of it.

What 15 mm means for your doors and appliances

At 0.59 inches, Grande is among the thicker floating floors sold today. Check that number against four things before your order ships.

Interior doors need about 5/8 inch of clearance at the bottom or they will drag. Doors can be trimmed, so treat this as a budget item rather than a dealbreaker.

Dishwashers and slide-in ranges sit in a fixed opening under the countertop. Adding 0.59 inches of floor underneath can make future removal difficult, and in tight installations the appliance may not slide back in at all. Measure your current clearance now, not after the floor is down.

Cabinet toe kicks lose more than half an inch of visible height, because a floating floor goes over the existing subfloor rather than under the cabinets. On a long run that changes the proportion noticeably.

Transitions to tile, carpet, or existing hardwood need trim sized for a 15 mm height difference. Reducers cut for 5 mm SPC will not work. We stock the COREtec trims made for this thickness and quote them with the flooring.

Where it can go, and what waterproof actually covers

COREtec approves Lotte Oak above grade, on grade, and below grade, which puts finished basements in scope. The waterproof core also covers kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and mudrooms.

Waterproof describes the plank, not the building. The core will not swell or buckle from spills or standing water on the surface. It does not address moisture arriving from underneath, and slab moisture vapor is a separate problem with its own requirements. Test the slab and follow the vapor-control steps in COREtec's installation guide before installing over concrete. A waterproof floor will not protect drywall, cabinets, or baseboards from a leak either, so resolve water issues before installing over them.

COREtec rates Originals as kidproof and petproof, and the construction earns that for spills and daily traffic. Keep pet nails trimmed and clean spills before residue works into the bevels.

Floating or glue-down

COREtec permits both methods here. Floating is the standard residential choice: the angle-tap system locks plank to plank and the floor sits loose over the subfloor, with no adhesive and no acclimation, so furniture goes back the same day the last plank drops in.

Direct glue suits commercial spaces, very large uninterrupted spans, and floors carrying rolling loads. If you are specifying this for an office, clinic, or retail space, talk to us before ordering so adhesive and subfloor prep get quoted with the material.

Either method needs a flat subfloor, and flatness matters more here than with shorter planks. A 6-foot-10 plank bridges a dip instead of following it, so unevenness telegraphs through the surface more visibly than it would with a 48-inch board.

How many cartons to order

One carton covers 20.67 square feet. Measure the length and width of every room including closets and nooks, add the areas together, then divide by 20.67 and add waste.

COREtec's own calculator uses 15%, which is a sound baseline. Push to 20% for spaces with jogs, angled walls, several doorways, or a diagonal layout, since those produce offcuts you cannot reuse. A 400 square foot room at 15% waste comes to 23 cartons.

Order the whole job at once. Vinyl plank runs in production batches, and a reorder three months later can come from a different run. Put your trim on the same order too: thresholds, reducers, and stair parts ship on their own schedule and can otherwise arrive weeks after the flooring.
