Definition of Fiberboard Core

A combination of soft and hardwood particles and a binding agent, like resin, used as the internal structure of hardwood flooring.

A fiberboard core is heated and compressed to create a dense board that’s not as durable as other engineered hardwood flooring cores, like plywood and high-density fiberboard (HDF).

It’s affordable and versatile, so in addition to its use as a flooring material, it’s used to manufacture furniture, door panels, and cabinetry.
