COREtec Originals
COREtec Originals is the original COREtec floor, the WPC line the whole brand was built on. WPC means the core is foamed rather than solid, and that one difference is why Originals feels warmer and quieter underfoot than the SPC planks in COREtec Pro. It absorbs footsteps instead of bouncing them back. Every plank is waterproof and clicks together as a floating floor, with the underlayment already bonded to the back, cork on most styles and COREtec's Soft Step pad on some Premium colours, so there is nothing separate to roll out. It goes down over most existing floors and never needs sanding, staining or refinishing, which is the practical argument for it over real wood in kitchens, basements, bedrooms, living rooms and hallways.
The collection comes in three series. Classics is the established range, built around narrower 5" and 7" planks. Enhanced moves up to 7" and 9" boards with updated wood visuals. Premium has the widest selection and the biggest formats, including Grande, which mixes 28", 55" and 82" lengths in the same box so a large floor repeats less. All three are COREtec Originals luxury vinyl plank on the same WPC core, so the choice comes down to plank size, wear layer and budget. The first thing most people notice is the sound. Cheaper rigid vinyl has a hollow click to it underfoot, and the attached pad on Originals takes most of that out, which counts for more than you would expect in a house with kids or a dog. Barefoot it reads closer to real wood than to plastic. The foamed core also has a bit of give, so a dropped glass dish stands a better chance on an Originals floor than on a harder SPC one. The trade runs the other way for furniture dents and rolling loads, where Pro holds up better. Classics and Enhanced cover most normal residential jobs. Premium earns the extra in big open-plan rooms, where the thicker 12 mm boards sit flatter across a long run.
